100,000 worshippers attended Al-Aqsa Mosque despite restrictions

On Friday, April 10, 2026, Al-Aqsa Mosque witnessed a large turnout for the first Friday prayer after its reopening following a 40-day closure. Approximately 100,000 worshippers performed the prayer in its courtyards despite the difficult circumstances. The city saw a heavy deployment of forces around the mosque and the Old City, with checkpoints erected, search procedures tightened, and several young men prevented from entering. Arrests were reported since dawn, and some individuals banned from entering were also prevented from reaching the mosque. Simultaneously, hundreds of settlers stormed the mosque courtyards under the protection of the forces, further escalating the tension and restrictions on Friday. Despite all this, worshippers flocked to the mosque from dawn, and chants of "Allahu Akbar" (God is Great) filled the air, demonstrating the residents' adherence to their right to pray and their determination to keep Al-Aqsa Mosque vibrant with its people.
