โข The Returnees Camp in Homs was established between 1948 and 1949 in the heart of Homs, 160 km north of Damascus, on an area of โโ150,000 mยฒ near Homs University (formerly Al-Baath University). It was originally a military barracks for the French Mandate forces containing dormitories and military buildings.
โข The neighborhood had approximately 3,500 residents when it was established, while the number of Palestinian refugees there in 2011 was approximately 22,000.
โข The campโs residents come from different cities: Haifa, Jaffa, Acre, Nazareth, Tiberias, and from the villages of Tarshiha, Al-Shajara, Al-Tira, Ein Zeitoun, Al-Jish, Al-Zeeb, Lubya, Miโar, Amqa, Faradiya, Deir al-Asad, Al-Nahr, Al-Dhahiriya, and Saffuriya.
